Spring Island’s unique master plan as a low density community focused on preserving nature and open space resulted from the pioneering leadership of James J. Chaffin Jr., and James W. Light, the principals in the internationally-recognized development firm Chaffin/Light Associates.
Chaffin/Light Associates were dedicated to retaining the property's original natural state and worked to foster a self-renewing environment by establishing the Spring Island Trust to focus on land conservancy and serious sensitivity to the environment.
Spring Island is a member-owned, private equity country club community. The property owners continue the commitment to the preservation of both nature and tradition.
